Cairns-ICL was appointed by Canamens Energy to produce a technical appraisal report determining their development strategy in respect of onshore asset acquisition opportunities in Kazakhstan where Cairns had already built up a thirteen year record.
Cairns formulated a programme of high level government and industry connections establishing a baseline for Canamens market entry in Kazakhstan. A second programme of asset/owner identification was formulated with a view to setting up an acquisition strategy for the company. Cairns identified seven significant opportunities which subsequently were evaluated by Canamens. The company acquired Ravninnoye and BNG Group Assets in a consortium formed with Roxi Petroleum.
Cairns carried out environmental due diligence on both Ravninnoye and BNG projects. At the same time, a rigorous analysis of the Kazakhstan regulatory and permitting system at a national, regional and local level was undertaken, establishing a company procedure for consultation, documentation, sequencing and timelines towards establishing a critical path approach in what is a highly challenging and complex process.
